| Customer Reviews: No Frills Rock n Roll January 23, 2010 Michael L. Anderson (louisville ky) ...........OK, I know that there are more polished albums available. More in depth songwriting as well, but this cd from the Steeps (I have all three recent offerings) keeps me coming back for repeated listenings. I travel alot, and I can pop this cd in my radio and lose 60 miles easily. I remember my initial reaction-basic and raw-but rnr is not supposed to be slick. I would put this cd against any classic rock from the 70's. This is one of the best straight forward rock n roll cds I have in my collection, and my collection is HUGE. Happy listenin

not too shabby January 18, 2008 grooveyard gary (illinois) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Steepwater kind of reminds me a little of Gov't Mule, kind of a southern rock, with a little less jam band approach than the Mule. All in all tunes are catchy with some blues and rock vibes mixed together.gret music for a summer day.Highly recommended .
These guys rawk! February 24, 2006 Mo (Austin, TX USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Absolutely incredible band. I just got turned on to these guys. Money well spent. If you like your rock Southern and your blooze jumpy, this disc is for you. "Dead Horse" is a rawkin' song in the Stones vein. "Back to the Bottle" and "Jammin' Down Southern" have great slide work. And "Black Cat's Path" has great riffs. If you wanna hear how good this guy is with a slide, check out their version of "Mean Old World" on their website.
Supersweet rock n roll October 14, 2005 P. Handler (Reykjavik, Illinois) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is one of my favorite Chicago area bands, and I've seen them a dozen or so times around town. The album, in a word, is fantastic. This is great bluesy roots southern seventies feeling rock AND roll (both are important, I hope you realize), by talented musicians who know their way around a stage, and, apparently, a studio. And a guitar store, holy moly. Someone got the big catalog and went all out there. YEE HAW!
