| Customer Reviews: Well done! July 31, 2010 Antoni E. Walker I am not sure if this is better than southern weather, but after listening to it 5 or 10 times, the songs are really starting to grow on me. The cd sure has its standout track, and the others are very good as well. No song is bad. there is a lot of diversity as far as style on the album. Aaron also sounds very different in his singing style for this album. Overall it is very good. Unfortunately there is not song comparable to amazing because it is from the southern weather album. Overall a great cd, and you can expect a lot more now that this is Aaron's full time band not a side project any more.
Disappointing at first, but now I'm addicted. March 20, 2010 Danielsun (cincinnati, oh) I am an avid fan of The Almost, and Underoath (the singer's other band he drums and sings in). The last album the had (Southern Weather) was very upbeat punky pop rock. I was so addicted to this CD and flipped when I heard they were releasing another album. I loved the driving beats and fast paced songs. I was very disappointed with Monster Monster at first. I was totally expecting an album like the last. I hate this album and put it to the side. Well it's several months and when I felt like listening to some chill music I put this album on and now I'm addicted. Although, different, and very unlike The Almost's previous album this album still offers catchy tunes, creative lyrics, and overall good music, not to mention some great worship and tribute to God (which may or not matter to you, but I enjoy it, and that shouldn't affect the listening enjoyment of this album either way).
Potentially their best album thus far March 10, 2010 Eric A. Brasure (Nashville, TN) Monster Monster has most definitely proved to be one of the most dynamic albums of the fall. Aaron Gillespie has his best years ahead of him as "The Almost" have dived into new concepts and sounds in what is potentially their best album thus far. Demonstrating prowess in both the hardcore and the acoustic, Monster Monster boasts of twelve tracks of raw content.
Perhaps the best summation is the concerted effort of some of the most talented musicians of our day pursuing God. "No I Don't" and "Hand Grenade" are two of the most intimate songs on the album with kickback emo sounds of the late nineties. Overall, an airy album sure to rock through and through...The Almost get's an A plus for Monster Monster.
Happy with everything January 30, 2010 Kitty (San Jose, CA, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered this for my son for Christmas. It came very quickly and in great condition. Very happy with seller.
Almost, but not quite. December 18, 2009 Joel C. Hansen (Tallahassee, FL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When I purchased this, I had only heard a few of The Almost's best tracks from their first album and enjoyed them immensely. I'm definitely a fan of Underoath as well. But, to say it simply, I wasn't very impressed with this album as a whole. After the first three of four tracks, I was wondering if I had completely wasted my money. But then it started getting much better. Two tracks, "Hand Grenade" and "Monster," are excellent.
As a whole, they sound good as a band. Surprisingly, Aaron's vocals weren't as strong as I've heard on previous recordings. The drums rock, and the arrangements of some songs are really creative. For me, though, there are just too many sub-par songs that sound like a not-as-good version of Paramore.
I will listen again. Maybe they'll start to grow on me.
